So I am absolutely obsessed with Tartan!! Be it on clothing, bedding or whatever I just LOVE IT!!
I have seen a load of tutorials on tartan nail varnish but I thought I would show you the way I like to achieve a Tartan nail look; so for starters theses are the tools and colours I used.
A white striper Polish
A clear top coat
A striper brush, here I used a silver striper and just used a the striper inside and wiped it
cleaned it with nail polish remover.
First I painted the nails with the grey polish, let that coat dry and repeted that to achieve an opaque finish.
I then went in with the white striper and made a thick white stripe down the nail, it's important to put this thick stripe off centre to achieve a better look.
I then used the silver striper, wiped it clean with nail polish remover and dipped it in the black polish, with this I made a stripe down either side of this thick white stripe and one down the centre.
Also with this same colour I drew a line across the whole design towards the top of the nail.
Next I drew a cross with the burgundy polish, with the first line down the nail on the opposite side to the white and black design and then across the whole design towards the front of the nail.
To finish things off, I sealed it in with a clear top coat, I think this is a really nice way to do a tartan nail design and its relly simple.
I would love to experiment with this more and use different colour combinations, definitely going to do a red and green tartan design for Christmas.
